Kathleen Doyle was appointed as Commissioner for Taxi Regulation in 2007. Her responsibilities are set out in primary legislation to provide a regulatory framework for the operation of the small public service vehicle (SPSV) industry in Ireland.
SPSV’s consist of taxis, wheelchair accessible taxis, hackneys, wheelchair accessible hackneys and limousines. The Commission pursues its objectives by promoting high quality service provision by all licence holders.
The legislation provides the Commission with the power to regulate the licensing, ownership control and operation of SPSVs, their drivers and dispatch operators in Ireland.
